Town of Moreau
US Route 9 Corridor Enhancement Study
MOREAU US ROUTE 9 CORRIDOR ENHANCEMENT STUDY
PURPOSE
The US Route 9 Corridor Enhancement Study (the Study) will identify challenges related to land use, zoning, transportation, and corridor design, including aesthetics, while also examining future land use trends and exploring opportunities for improvement.
This study will build upon previous planning efforts, such as the Exit 17/US Route 9 Corridor Land Use and Transportation Study (2014) and will provide a foundation for potential changes in land use policy and regulations. The study will also build off relevant recommendations in the comprehensive plan and may be added as an appendix.

WHY THIS STUDY
The Route 9 corridor serves as an important connection to the greater region. The Route 9 corridor not only serves as a gateway to the Town but also plays a vital role in generating tax revenue for the community. While the corridor has retained successful businesses, some businesses have closed or relocated leaving multiple buildings and parcels for sale. This, combined with vacant properties, has prevented the corridor from maintaining a cohesive identity and sustainable economic environment.

GOAL
To shape a vibrant and welcoming gateway corridor that supports both the local community and existing and future businesses.

This study is being prepared with funding provided by the Hudson River Valley Greenway.
